Collective Bill

Definition

A Collective Bill is an aggregated invoice generated inside SAP Utilities that mathematically groups together the individual charges and consumptions from numerous physically distinct subordinate contract accounts logically under one parent umbrella.

Business Purpose and Architecture

Utilities use Collective Bills to serve massive corporate entities or housing conglomerates. A city government may possess 300 different buildings with 300 different physical meters; rather than mailing the city 300 individual invoices, the utility rolls them into one massive Collective Bill. Architecturally, it requires specific master data hierarchy implementations linking subordinate Contract Accounts to a master parent account, dictating that the parallel Invoicing Engine delays the parent’s printout until all children’s lines successfully calculate.
