Due Date Determination

Definition

Due Date Determination is the programmatic calculation invoked during Invoicing to assign the exact legal maturity date for a derived receivable or credit based on assigned payment terms.

Business Purpose and Architecture

Calculating when a customer must pay is a core function of the FI-CA subledger. Architecturally, the SAP Invoicing engine reviews the FI-CA payment terms assigned at the Contract Account master data level. Using variables like standard ‘net due in 14 days’ or complex dynamic matrices comparing document dates versus posting dates, the system calculates the final due date value. Advanced utility implementations can trigger custom logic to organically bind a current bill’s due date to intersect perfectly with a customer’s previously established Budget Billing Plan schedule.
