Individual Processing

Definition

Individual Processing is the ad-hoc execution method in SAP Utilities, specifically used when a clerk manually triggers a transaction—such as a single billing or Invoicing run—for a specific Contract Account, contract, or installation natively in the graphical interface.

Business Purpose and Architecture

The business purpose is granular control for customer-facing agents and auditors allowing them to resolve exceptions, execute off-cycle interim bills, or perform manual interventions instantly. Architecturally, it operates completely divorced from the Portion scheduler. It allows unique flags (like ‘Display Bill’) to force the system to stream data back continuously to the agent’s screen for real-time validation, contrasting sharply with the automated background logs of Mass Processing.
