Meter-Centric Prepayment## Definition

Meter-Centric Prepayment(also known as the “Thick Model”) places the active financial deduction logic firmly onto the localized physical hardware chipset of the smart meter itself entirely independent of core SAP.

Business Purpose and Architecture

In regions with highly unreliable telecommunication networks, waiting for a central billing server to authorize power is completely unviable. Architecturally, the utility provisions a specialized thick meter. The customer purchases a secure 20-digit topographical token from a kiosk and manually inputs it into the meter. The meter’s internal firmware translates the token securely into a localized numerical limit. The meter autonomously shuts off its own relay the exact moment the local limit is breached, completely bypassing any continuous S/4HANA Interval polling requirement.
