Interim Billing

Definition

Interim Billing is an unscheduled, on-demand billing transaction generated in SAP Utilities specifically requested outside the confines of the normal schedule records.

Business Purpose and Architecture

Utilities use Interim Billing to handle off-cycle requests, such as a customer needing a mid-month invoice for an early settlement or a corporate audit. Architecturally, doing an interim bill is disruptive to the timeline—the next scheduled Periodic Billing will automatically reset its start date to the exact moment the interim billing was executed, preventing overlapping ranges. It cannot be used if Floating Backbilling models are active.
