Discount

Definition

A Discount in SAP Utilities is a structured configuration mechanism utilized to lower an active rate for a specific set of circumstances. It can be assessed as an absolute mathematical value or dynamically calculated via a percentage, targeting specific prices, quantities, amounts, or demand measurements.

Business Purpose and Architecture

Its business purpose is immense flexibility. Utilities frequently need to map promotional deals, corporate agreements, or community loyalty programs. Utilizing Discounts allows them to override standard active rates dynamically without having to duplicate their entire master data structure. Architecturally, a Discount is assigned as an Operand inside the Installation Facts, functioning to replace normal configuration logic when executing Variant Programs mapped specifically for evaluating discounts before final bill itemization.
