RTP Interface

Definition

The Real-Time Pricing (RTP) Interface is the fundamental architectural conduit linking purely operational Interval data stored within Energy Data Management directly to the financial algorithms securely housed within the SAP Billing engine.

Business Purpose and Architecture

A smart meter fundamentally generates 35,000 raw consumption values annually. The FI-CA standard billing engine natively expects one single value (annual read) and cannot mathematically digest arrays. Architecturally, the RTP Interface bridges the gap. The rate configuration invokes the interface, which uses predefined structural components to retrieve the 15-minute load shape data from the EDM repository. Through specialized formulas, it mathematically condenses massive arrays dynamically into explicit, billable numeric operands (like absolute highest peak, or total weekend summation) pushing those processed numbers seamlessly into standard Rate Facts.
