SAP Datasphere

Definition

SAP Datasphere is the modern cloud-native unified data administration platform acting as the designated architectural successor to traditional on-premise SAP Business Warehouse (BW), providing a centralized Business Data Fabric across integrated S/4HANA architectures.

Business Purpose and Architecture

Maintaining colossal localized BW servers is expensive and restrictive. Architecturally, massive ERP deployments connect directly into Datasphere. It inherently manages multi-tier data integration, actively replacing conventional extraction mechanisms with ODP (Operational Data Provisioning) delta queue replication streams. Additionally, for S/4HANA Utilities implementations currently paralyzed by massive legacy IS-U BI models, the “SAP BW Bridge” utility within Datasphere provides backward-compatibility and migration support seamlessly into the modern elastic cloud architecture.
