Schedule Master Records

Definition

Schedule Master Records are aggregations of data within SAP Utilities that plan, dictate, and track exactly when logical sequences like meter reading, billing executions, and bill printing are authorized to run. These records group customers geographically or logistically into structured blocks, such as Portions (for billing) and Meter Reading Units (for data collection).

Business Purpose and Architecture

A utility company cannot physically assess millions of meters simultaneously. The business purpose of these records is resource modeling—creating a predictable heartbeat of daily “work lists” that balance network load, workforce dispatching, and computational load. Architecturally, these records dictate the scheduling timeline. The parameters embedded in the master record generate the actual execution arrays (Schedule Records), actively defining future thresholds like the scheduled meter reading date and the exact end of the legal billing period.
