Full Reversal

Definition

A Full Reversal in SAP Utilities is an overarching reversal transaction that simultaneously undoes both an Invoicing document and its directly linked fundamental billing documents in one cascading motion.

Business Purpose and Architecture

When a utility prints an invoice and the customer immediately calls to contest a wildly inaccurate meter read, the agent must perform a Full Reversal. Architecturally, the system cannot perform a pure Billing Reversal if standard Invoicing has already locked the FI-CA subledger. A Full Reversal first triggers the logic of an Invoicing Reversal(wiping the financial postings and print history) and automatically triggers the underlying Billing Reversal(wiping the line items and resetting the meter reading status) simultaneously.
