Dispatcher

Definition

The Mass Processing Dispatcher is the central algorithmic manager inside SAP Utilities responsible for dynamically parsing Intervals and balancing their execution payload across available system background jobs.

Business Purpose and Architecture

Data within a utility is rarely mathematically symmetrical—an Interval containing 1,000 residential contracts will compute ten times faster than an Interval containing 1,000 complex industrial profiles. The Dispatcher’s purpose is to prevent slow intervals from bottlenecking the entire nightly batch run. Architecturally, it reads the status of all available application servers, constantly feeds new block values to vacant jobs, and governs the overarching execution timeline to ensure maximum parallel efficiency without overwhelming any single hardware node.
