Print Workbench

Definition

The Print Workbench is the central configuration and execution framework within SAP Utilities responsible for assembling, formatting, and dispatching mass volume print output streams.

Business Purpose and Architecture

Form generation for millions of consumers requires centralized coordination. Architecturally, the Print Workbench unites business objects with visual layouts. It operates hierarchically: extracting the Document Header, looping through Document Items, and querying 1:1 related master data objects like the Contract Account. It subsequently injects these values into attached form technologies (like SAPscript or Adobe Forms), managing precise control breaks to instantly trigger dynamic subtotals.
